A day at the beach

Today was gorgeous so we high-tailed it to our local beach. Can you believe that we were the first ones there? In Chicago I had to fight to get beach space! Bostonians don't know what they got! Anyway, the water was "cool" and clear, the breeze was brisk, but the sun was shinning!! Nice way to spend our morning! We buried feet, dug for rocks, and built castles. Yummy!!!

Brenden's "yard"

Because we have no green space in our apartment, Brenden has found a way to play outside while Annie is taking her nap. He's got quite the set-up! He takes it all out and hauls it all in. I can't wait to move into our house with the huge backyard!!!

Change, glorious change..

The summer has been going well. We have happy news and sad news. We've finally bought a house! It's a ranch style house in a suburb south of Boston. Troy is teasing me because the house is in a little neighborhood across the street from my favorite mall! I could actually walk there! The best part is the 1/2 acre of land that it sits on. I can not wait to get into that backyard with the kids!! If all goes according to plan, we'll close on August 14th. I'll post pics when I take them :)

The sad news is that Chelsea is MOVING to California in September! We are happy to see her move forward with her life (her boyfriend is now settled there), but are really unhappy to have her gone! She has been a huge asset to our family for this past year! She is amazing at what she does. The kids and I will really miss her, but wish her all the happiness in the world! Because she's leaving us, the kids will headed back to a Kindercare facility this fall (it's literally 2 blocks from our house). Annie will be in the 3 year old preK and Brenden will be in their kindergarten.

So much change!!

Day in the sun!

The sun has finally come out to stay (for a little while at least). This family took full advantage of it! We packed up and headed to the country-side. We went to an old family dairy farm, Richardson's Farm, to look at the cows but more importantly eat their homemade ice cream. Upon arriving we found a really cute putt putt golf course that looked "do-able" for the kids. Soo much fun!! This was the first time for both kids and it was crazy! Brenden decided it was more like hockey and pushed the ball into the hole, while Annie hit the ball a couple of times and then just picked up the ball and put it into the cup! Down right hilarious!! After playing the whole course (Annie quit after 3 holes), we settled down to watch others and eat their home-made ice cream. Really a great way to spend the day. Better yet, both kids crashed in the car on the way home!!

Independence Day

How exciting to be in Boston for our country's birthday celebration!! We took it all in stride! It started with a really nice morning at the beach followed by naps for all! We then packed up and headed to Cambridge for a BBQ with our friend Eric. We had a great time playing with Eric's dog and eating up a storm.

We walked down to the Charles River to wait for the fireworks. And wait. And wait. It seemed to drag by for the kids. I mean, was it really necessary to wait until 10:30? It was dark at around 9:30! Anyway, the kids played with sparklers while we waited. We did sit near the speakers so we listened to the Boston Pops play until it was finally time to begin. Wow! It was a gorgeous display of fireworks!! All in all it was a lovely celebration.

Summer Days

This summer has begun!! It has rained the entire week! I quickly ran out of things to do that entertained the crew without leaving the house. So, I let the kids play in the sink with loads of toys and water. They played for 2 whole hours and had a blast! They had sooo much fun with the water, that I had to mop the floor when they were done!! All in good fun...
