Living Moments

This is one of the rare moments in life that I live for! While I was cleaning up our baking mess, Brenden and Annie climbed up onto Bren's bed and read a book. This is the first time that Brenden has actually told a story of his own! In the past, he's told the story as he remembered it from the book. Today he began with Once Upon a Time... Annie sat patiently for about 30 seconds and then began her rendition of the story. A moment that will carry me through the tomorrow.

Nonnie's Birthday

In honor of Nonnie's birthday tomorrow, Brenden, Annie and I made the famous Kovalak birthday cake. Mom used to make the Mennonite chocolate cake from scratch with chocolate whip cream frosting per the family custom. Today I cheated and used a box cake, but still made the yummy frosting. The kids had a great time mixing and licking.

While baking, I blared John Denver which always reminds me of Mom (she played him constantly)! Brenden actually said the same thing I used to say to my mom. "I don't like this music, can you turn it off?" I laughed out loud and turned it up! Happy Birthday Mom!

Papa's Arrival

Most of you know that dad has been working in Dubai, UAE. So, today he and Sandy traveled to Chicago for a visit. They arrived this morning and the kids (and adults) are in love! Today we've done nothing but play with the kids and catch up. It's been a good day. On Tuesday, Sandy and I will be Chicago tourists.

Spring day

Today was so nice that I had a hard time staying at work. So, I left as early as possible (teachers you know how it goes) and took the kids to the library. Afterwards, it was too hard to pass up a suggestion from Brenden. Having seen the 7 Eleven sign we decided that today was the day that Annie would have her first Slurpee! She loved it!! In fact, she refused to share and actually told me "No" when I asked for a sip! Nonnie would be so proud!

My Littleones...

This was taken yesterday before we headed out to the Nature Museum. They are growing up too fast!

Inspiration

I have been inspired by a wonderful woman to create a space that my family and friends can easily check up on my little family. I make no promises about how often I write, but I do promise to try to keep it updated so that we can all enjoy. So, here goes...
