Leogs

This morning as I was getting things ready for our trek to the Children's Museum, Brenden came running upstairs with a slightly bloody mouth. He said "it" hurt so I took a look and things looked "normal" to this mommy. Then he started asking when it was going to go back in. WHAT?! He managed to knock his tooth loose. How, you may ask? Well, my lovey young boy used his TEETH to separate his Legos!! I got on the phone and we headed to the dentist. X-rays said all is fine, but his adult teeth are ready and waiting to come in!!!! I could see them right there in black and white. Anyway, instead of going to the Children's Museum we went straight to the Lego store. They actually sell a tool that separates Legos without the use of teeth! Amazing and it is terribly easy to use!

Note to parents with Legos in house...get this $2 contraption!!!

St. Patrick's Day in South Boston!

I had heard tales about the goings on in Southie for the St. Patty's Day parade, but now I've lived to tell the tale! We saw the signs posting "No Parking" all over our small town and decided not to drive anywhere on Sunday - parade day. We had a normal Sunday morning. We walked about a mile to the shopping plaza for shopping and lunch. Normally, we'd be the ONLY people out, but today people were already out and about. Now when I saw out and about, what I mean is drunk and disorderly! It seemed like thousands of people descended upon Southie for the parade to day. Our walk to and from lunch was uneventful. However, we did stop to watch the police come out and make the way for the parade. Brenden was enthralled with the SWAT team's vehicle and uniform!!! We waited for EVER and no parade. So, we walked the last couple of blocks to drop of Annie and Troy, where at some point Troy caught 2 young ladies PEEING behind our van in our carport!!!.

Bren and I headed back out. We ran into some of my students while walking around but nothing unusual. The parade itself was entertaining, lots of pipers, firetrucks, and politicians. I decided to leave when the lovely people decided to through lollipops at the nice officers across the street from us! This is the cleanest version of our time at the Southie St. Patty's Day Parade!!

Hope all is well and you enjoy your week!

Amazing day!

Eric, our friend from Chicago working on his post-doc here at MIT, is an outdoor enthusiast and asked us to join him for a hike yesterday. We gladly accepted and headed into the great outdoors! We had a blast! Eric hikes often with his beautiful dog and took us to one of the easier spots. The weather was amazing! The sun was shinning, snow crunched beneath our feet, and the breeze was warm (such a tease-it snowed today). The kids have been cooped up all winter long and had a rare chance to run and get dirty. They did a great job! Brenden is great outside, but Annie is not too into the outdoors unless it means going from the car into a building. I'm trying to get my kids out of the typical "city kid" mentality and we're getting there. It went so well that we're planning a camping trip this summer. Don't worry we'll start small!
Eric is pictured with the kids at the top. They ADORE him! Just a small note...Eric first held Brenden when he was just hours old and was with me when I was induced! We are very happy to be with him again!

Grandma and Grandpa

Grandma and Grandpa came to visit!! They were here in Boston for some unhappy circumstances, but were able to spend some great time with us!! We went to the park, ventured out to Chuck E. Cheeses, and played in the house. We really did have a great time! The pictures are of us hanging around the house. Brenden and Troy taught Grandma how to play our wii...very funny!! Much like myself, Lana needs to move to actually "play" a game. Loads of fun for all!! Can't wait to see you guys again...under happier circumstances!!
